I plant house in Seattle with the forepart and garage doors are w facing and the backyard is in the east side of the house. The Kitchen and living rooms are east facing where the backyard is.

I too take a house available which is just opposite to the first one, front and garage doors are east facing and the backyard is in the west side of the house.

Taking the Seattle weather into consideration, which one volition be the best option?

Accept the ane y'all similar best. Where it faces, unless you have a view, isn't that important.

The only weather related issues is air current driving difficult rain, which would most ofttimes come from the eastward, but is rare. For example we had some in the last couple of days. Even then because of the mountains and water storm direction changes oft around hither so I'd forget most that and just consider other pros and cons in deciding which house.

If y'all have any plan to grow a vegetable garden or sunbath in summer, so the orientation of the back yard may be important, so what niggling sun we go is maximized and nor blocked by trees.

Nosotros didn't think about this before ownership our firm, but I really enjoy that our living room faces south and gets plenty of light. The idiot box room and bedroom face due north which is great for sleeping in in the summer.

Having a west facing backyard will maximize gardening calorie-free, and you lot'll be able to sit down outside longer.

West facing is always better upward here considering it allows for more natural light. If yous are stuck with an east facing lawn, endeavor getting a allow to trim the trees dorsum so you become more than light.

Why does a w facing backyard allow more natural light? Wouldn't information technology just be that you lot get more light in the evening, while east facing gets more than lite in the forenoon? Bold the main living area of the house (family room, kitchen) is in the back of the house, like it seems nigh are.

To me, it seems like a due south facing backyard would get yous the most lite, particularly year circular, since the sun is so low in the winter. I do like this topic though, allow's hear some more.

At present a north facing lawn, there you are really stuck.

Also during the summer, it's the side longest exposed. My room faced Due west and during summertime, the lite was bright til 9pm. It was also the hottest room in the house.
